“Dosti” both in Hindi and Urdu means FRIENDSHIP

A relationship without any fear and based on full cooperation. A relationship built on mutual respect and good wishes for one another. “Dosti” has no boundaries or borders. And when a lot is in common like food, language, age old customs, and traditions it only strengthens the basic idea. Not to mention when the common people from both sides want to interact but the authorities at the helm of affairs have their own hidden agendas. The need to express the “Dosti” message becomes increasingly more important than ever.

If we have to keep abreast with today’s fast paced world, the phrase “love thy neighbour as thyself” has to be followed which again brings us face to face with the “Dosti” factor.

“Dosti” in its true sense is having a good understanding of one another which we (India & Pakistan) have a lot to work on. At least some positive signs have started to show up, for example, Pakistan for the first time in its history has recruited civil and military officers from all minorities communities. In India at the same time minorities are holding the highest of public offices. These gestures help the “Dosti” cause as both sides consider religious freedom a step forward.

How Canada has helped IP Dosti

As South Asians living in Canada the most important thing we have learned is equality and freedom. Freedom gives us a chance to know and understand each other better. Our next generations will not be alienated from one another as we have been for well over half a century. So come let us join the “Dosti” bandwagon with a clean heart and a clear mind.
